Hello and welcome to a new round of Style Imitating Art.
Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspirational image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art-inspired outfits. The next Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.
This Week’s Curator
This round is created by Shelbee.
For this round, Shelbee has picked an illustration of Holly Hobbie created by Denise Holly Hobbie. This particular illustration is called “The Blue Girl”. I remember Holly Hobby quite well. My daughter was actually into a character named Strawberry Shortcake and I remember doing her a whole room based on that theme.
There is not much information about the artist of Holly Hobbie, except that she still seems to be alive.
I hope everyone has fun with this one. I am going to have to think pretty hard because I don’t have any patchwork outside of a winter velvet jacket and that won’t exactly work for this time of year.
Take care,
Terri
Holly Hobby was one of my favorite dolls. Mine had a green dress.

My oldest daughter just sent me a message that she did really like Hollie Hobby too-so maybe all the Strawberry Shortcake was because of me.

Oh, I am really stumped on this one! I haven’t the foggiest idea! My daughter just missed the age of Holly Hobby and Strawberry Shortcake.

My oldest was in to both. I am going with a plaid-it’s still linear and might have squares-and it’s mainly blue

Oh, I love the Strawberry Shortcake reference! I was obsessed with Strawberry Shortcake as a young girl. Actually much more than Holly Hobbie. That was such a fabulous flashback!
