Welcome to my interpretation for this round of Style Imitating Art.

A Little Background
Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspirational image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art-inspired outfits. The next Wednesday, the curator shares all the submissions on her blog.
This Week’s Curator

This round is created by Shelbee.
Her pick for this round is a 1951 Primitive painting by American folk artist Grandma Moses, entitled, “Taking in the Laundry.”
She chose this painting because hanging her laundry outside to dry is one of Shelbee’s favorite things in life ever. It is her favorite household chore to do. I will add, that for all my life, I have also hung out laundry when the weather is cooperative. We had a laundry line growing up and I have always kept the tradition alive.
My Take

I immediately knew I would have to wear white and picked these trousers that I picked up years ago at Target. In my opinion, the sun is one of the best whiteners and brighteners out there so a major part of my outfit had to be white. These pants have probably even hung out in the sun at some point in their life!
Blue skies are also helpful if you are going to hang out clothes. For my blue, I picked a two-piece Cabi cami and overtop made from polyester voile. It looks very summery but I feel it is hot because of being made from polyester. However, it is a pretty piece and I try to wear it a few times each season.
There are bits and pieces of black in the work and I carried that out by using my Rebecca Minkoff slip-on sandals and my Gigi New York cell phone carrier.
Being that hanging out laundry is all about the sun, I added my Coolibar Avery Raffia sun hat to protect my face.
That finishes me for this one and I hope you enjoyed reading about my idea for this painting. Have you sent Shelbee your idea? If you have not done so already, please send it to Shelbee at shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com by tomorrow.

See you next time!

You look so effortless and summery.

Oh my goodness, Terri, I really enjoyed reading how you tied each outfit element to the painting. I was smiling and giggling all the way through. Probably because I chose my dress because it reminded me of the perfect sky for laundry day. I really love this casual summery outfit on you. Your top is really pretty and such a great color and your hat is magnificent. I have a weakness for hats, you know!

Thanks, Shelbee-right now that is “the hat”. I did cost a bit of coin and so is on my head a lot. I had the chance to wear my daughters and loved it so much, knew I had to have one for myself.

Terri, you always have such a wonderful interpretation of the art! I like how you tied the white of your pants to the whitening the sun can do, and the blue of your tops to the sky! Such a good idea!

Thank you, Marsha-it was still basically using the colors in the painting. But the whole laundry thing did make it more fun to do.
