My Linking Up to the Slow Fashion Walk Help Guide

This is not where you link up. This is a manual for for those who have never joined a linkup before. To link up, go to my latest blog post.

Hello and welcome to the Slow Fashion Walk Linkup. I, along with legions of other fashionistas love to thrift and mix my great finds in with fashion I already have in my closet. Purchasing gently used second hand clothing  is a very important part of my “slow fashion” philosophy.

The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry in the world; only second to the petroleum industry. We dump tons of fashion fashion clothing into our landfills each year. Personally, buying pre-loved is one of the many ways I  can help out in this dilemma.

Of course, there are many other different reasons to go on the hunt, which can range from finding that unique piece of vintage, getting a great deal or just satisfying that huntress nature in us. Everyone has their list of reasons why they are so addicted to “going on the hunt”.

I am having a linkup to celebrate those fabulous finds with a once every month linkup.

Why 1st Friday?

Around these parts (the Kansas City area), 1st Friday is an important date. It is the day of art and culture. The center of the KC arts scene, the Crossroads art district, is vibrant with new shows in the galleries, artists’ meetups and just a great camaraderie of art lovers. Styling is an art form in my point of view so it was just natural a MeadowTree Style event would have to be on a first Friday.

Who can link up?

Any post on a blog, Instagram, Facebook or the like can linkup to this style celebration. If you can copy and paste an URL in the Linky box, you are good to go!

Terri, do we have to have a whole 2nd Loved outfit for the linkup. No, just one item will do, be it a hat, skirt, pants or a piece of jewelry. I believe in mixing it up as far as items in a look. Just one item in your style be it from, a thrift shop, eBay, consignment shop, vintage boutique, one of the online consignment shops such as RealReal or something a friend gave you because they didn’t want it anymore is all you need.

When you do post, I would appreciate a description about your 2nd Loved item (or items), what type of shop you found it and what drew you to it. Tell as much or as little as you want.

When does the Linkup start?

2nd Loved 1st Friday linkup will start 12 a.m. on the first Friday of each month.

How long will the Linkup last?

The 2nd Loved 1st Friday is a once in a month affair and will stay open all month and you can link up anytime during the month. Every 1st Friday I will have a new post to kick the party off and am looking forward to seeing you there!

Linking Up  101

Linking up is easy, but if you have never done it, here’s some helpful thoughts.

When you see a blue rectangle with Mr. Frog at the bottom of one of my posts, you know that you can join the my Link-Up from that post.

But before you can click  the button the blue button to link up, you must have a link copied from whatever you want to post.

How do you do this? It’s easy

Linking Up With a Blog or Facebook

First you must copy your link of what ever post you want to share and then you can click on the blue button with Mr.Frog,

Hi, Again

Click on that button and you will be taken to the linkup and you will see the photos and links of everyone who has already linked up. This is a screen shot of one of my earlier linkups.

Then you need to click on the blue rectangle that says, “Add Your Link”.

You will now be taken to a new screen that looks like the one below.

Line one (*Link) is where you paste your own link into.

Line two (*Link Title) will automatically fill in BUT you can change it if you want. I especially like to change the Instagram titles to have some small statement about what they are about-even if it’s just your name.

Line three is where you put your email-It’s not shared.

The image will automatically show up. If its a blog, you can actually change the image if that’s not the one you want. For Instagram, you only have the one image to that’s it.

If you are linking up a blog, make sure you have the individual blog post (that URL will have the title in it). I have linked my post 40/60=100% Style as an example. I copied my individual post and pasted it into

The title will automatically pop up in the second info box . But you can change the title if you want to, just highlight the existing words and retype what you really want to say.

info box

You will then need to put in your email address and don’t worry, no one will see it but me. The email comes in handy, especially if I want to notify you that you will be the featured style in my weekly post.

Facebook is just as easy as a blog. Find you photo on your Facebook page and  click on it. Then copy the URL and paste it in the first Inlinkz info box.  You may want to change the Title in the second info box because it will print most of everything that you have written about the photo and then say  “Facebook”.

Linking up with Instagram-Which is a bit more complicated…

First, go to the Instagram photo that you want to link to and then click on the three upper dots that are on the top right.

Step1threedots

Once you click on the three dots, you will be taken to another Instagram screen. Then click on SHARE.

instagram

This will again take you to a new screen and you will click “copy link“.

step3copylink

After these three steps you are ready to paste your Instagram link into the first info box on Inlinkz. When you do this, the second box will only say, “Instagram”. You can highlight that and put in any title you want.  Instagram does make you work harder for your URL but once you do it a few times, it pretty quick and easy.

Hope to see you at my party- Happy Styling!
