“Interrupted Reading” for My Last Hosting for Style Imitating Art

Welcome to another Style Imitating Art challenge. I believe that this is the last one for the year 2023 and my last one as a host. After three years, I’ve decided to step down.

Let’s Start from the Beginning

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspirational image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art-inspired outfits. The next Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.

What I Chose

For my last, I chose an 1870 painting by the French artist Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot. The color palette is soft and muted. The lady is pensive as if she is thinking about a passage that she just read. The fact that during the last year, I have joined a book club and have been loving it probably also has something to do with this choice.

Again, this work was found on The Chicago Art Institute’s open-source collection. The link to the actual painting and some extra information about Carot can be found HERE. For general research, here is the link to the introductory open-source index.

Even though this is a limited palette, I still see colors: rose, gold, orange, white, and black for just a few. I don’t see why patterns couldn’t be used in the presentation. If you want to include a fiction book that you are currently reading or a favorite one that you want to share, feel free to include that. Believe me, at this point, I have quite a list!

Send me your picture of your SIA-inspired outfit along with a small blurb on how you were inspired to meadowtreestyle@gmail.com by Tuesday, December 19th. I’ll share the submissions on my blog on Wednesday, December 20th.

Take Care,

Terri
