Welcome to a new Style Imitating Art challenge!
If you are new to Style Imitating Art, here’s what it’s all about.
Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Shelbee of Shelbee On the Edge, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspirational image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art-inspired outfits. The following Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.
This Weeks Curator
Salazar picked this round’s work. a series of illustrations by Louis Wain, the English artist best known for his paintings of anthropomorphic cats and “psychedelic” cats. Since she watched “The Electric Life of Louis Wain” (with Benedict Cumberbatch as Wain) earlier this year, she has wanted to feature his work in SIA.
I also saw “The Electric Life of Louis Wain” a few months ago. As a Benedict Cumberbatch fan since the premiere of “Sherlock” years ago on PBS, I also really liked the movie. Being a cat fan, I love the idea of using his illustrations of cats for our last challenge for the year.
Have Some Fun & Join Us
Go take a look in your closet and see what you have. Put something together and send it to Salazar at email@example.com by Tuesday, December 13th.
And with that, this is the last SIA challenge for this year

This is such a fun series of illustrations! I have going to have to work really hard on this one, though! You three have really been challenging us this year! That makes it all the more fun!

Next year, I’ve decided my choices will be based on variations of interpretations. 🤞
