Style Roundup for Carot’s “Interrupted Reading”

Hello and welcome to a Style Imitating Art Roundup. I have the final curration this year and this is my final roundup. This is such a busy part of the year, I decided to keep it very simple. Everyone interpreted it with what was in their own closets and with their own personal style. This has been what has been so great about this challenge. Everyone works from the same source but the variety is endless.

Let’s see how everyone interpreted our reading lady.

Marsha of Marsha in the MIddle

Marsha chose this April Cornell dress because it has muted colors which reminded her of the colors used in the painting. Her brown boots pick up the browns in the painting, and she wearing gold earrings just like the model.

Sally from Within A World of My Own

Sally’s camel skirt and brown bodice (vest) was inspired by the colors of the painting. Her maroon sweater picks up the color of the tablecloth.

Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey

Salazar picked tan, white, and black for her interpretation. In my opinion, this is a perfect color classic color combo which is a never fail as far as looking put together.

Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge

Shelbee created an outfit in a similar color palette with a similar silhouette to the woman’s outfit in the painting with a blush colored pin dot tulle skirt, white blouse, and black obi belt. Her mother-in-law just gifted her this poncho for Christmas and she liked how well it coordinated with the outfit and the colors in the painting.

And Then, Me

This is the simplest that I’ve ever gone for a SIA. I find that as I get older, I dress simpler and was very happy with my silk shirt, black knit pants from American Giant, and a brown semi-precious stone necklace.

This wraps up this Review for this round of Style Imitating Art. Thank you everyone for your wonderful interpretation of my curation. It’s bittersweet in that this is my last one. I will drop in occasionally and see what everyone is doing, but I know that it is time for me to step away. This blog is not going away but I will use it as an extension for my Pattern Review reviews when I get something sewn. Ocassionally, I will also have a knitted piece on here but I do knit very very slowly.

That’s it and thank you everyone for all your contributions and take care everyone.

Stay creative (with this group, that’s an easy one)!
