Hello and welcome to my interpretation of this edition of the SIA challenge.

About Style Imitating Art
Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Daenel of Living Outside the Stacks and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art-inspired outfits. The following Wednesday, the curator shares all of the submissions on her blog.
This Round’s Presenter
Today, Daenel of Living Outside the Stacks is the curator.

My Take

I decided to put together something that would look good if we had friends over for drinks and snacks. I would love wearing this for that kind of thing. More than likely, I would not wear out to dinner or anything like that (but never say never).
There’s a lot of imagery going on with this illustration but what hits me mainly are the pearls and flowers in the lady’s hair. I went with mainly black but jazzed it up with my Walter Baker kimono, which was in my Summer Curateur subscription box and grey pearls. The tropical print kimono is an organza and I added a simple black top and leggings underneath.
Pearls
Although the pearls are white in the original, the two necklaces I had, just didn’t make too much of a statement. And I thought my three strand choker (think Barbara Bush), was just to dressy for the vibe I was going for.
I got out my 100″ silver grey (from eBay/China years ago), which I can wrap around my neck at least four times. Bingo-that’s what I was going for. In addition, I used my double stranded black pearl bracelet and my pearl ring.
Finishing Out
The last thing was finishing out with a pair of shoes. I picked my Life Stride wedges in blush which has the same tone as some of the flowers in the kimono. I feel I ended up with a simple but good ensemble for playing the hostess during a summer evening. I really can see myself sipping my martini wearing this.
Well, that’s it for me so I ask you….

Thank you, Liz. When I saw the featured work, this immediately popped into my head. I’ve never put any of these things together before but might use this outfit for something in the future. This is a fun but sometimes a challenging challenge!

Terri, this outfit is so fabulous! I would wear this for an at home party or a going out event. You look so elegant and boho chic! Your pearls are magnificent, too. I am such a sucker for all the pearls! I think you captured the mood of the painting perfectly, too.

Thanks Shelbee-I have to admit that I wear these a lot more than my normal white pearls. They are just more fun. I’ve loved wearing this kimono all summer, mainly at home.
