This Week’s Inspirational Image

She chose a work by Jerry Garcia, “Feeding on Light.”

My Take

When I saw this watercolor, I immediately thought of one silk top. This is a Trina Turk top that I bought second-hand from eBay four years ago. In fact, I blogged about it HERE.

This top is very atypical for me. I usually don’t go for such a bright print. However, it is a summer top and I thought it would be fun to wear. I also have a pair of pink shoes and it is nice to have something to wear them with.

In 2018, I went on a Trina Turk hunt. She is an American designer from California who manufactured most of her clothes in the USA (at least four years ago). Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case now. This top is made in the USA which fits in with my sustainable ethic.

When you see her clothes, they definitely have that California vibe, or at least to me they do. Also, this pattern is nostalgic, because it reminds me of some things that we wore in the late 60’s and early 70’s.

I also like the ruffle feature in the front, another thing that I usually don’t wear but they are perfect on this top.

Accessories

The accessories, as usual for me, are a big part of my style story.

One of my favorite summer bags is this white laser-cut Rebecca Minkoff M.A.C. bag. This seems to be a bag that she has discontinued. I can understand that because I’ve had mine for ten years. Even on eBay, it is hard to find a regular-sized M.A.C. bag…so many minis. Poshmark isn’t too much better in their offerings.

On with my Timberlake boat shoes. They were given to me by my sister and I can’t remember why she didn’t want them but they were new when I got them. These are very comfortable shoes. Being pink, they don’t get worn much.

Then there is my vintage thrift shop bracelet, with its optical illusion of being three-dimensional. It’s not quite true pink but pink enough.

Here’s a photo from another post (published in 2017 and is a Sew-Sew Life story) showing my simple bar necklace of white porcelain with gold luster by Cydney Ross. A Kansas City artist, I loved her jewelry line when she produced her pieces and have quite a few. Interesting is that even five years ago (my Sew-Sew Life story), I put this bag and this necklace together for another look. Also, that tunic I made talked about and featured in that story is in my current summer closet, waiting to be worn again.
