Hello and welcome to a Style Imitating Art roundup featuring all the wonderful interpretations that were sent to me this week.

What is Style Imitating Art?

Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Daenel of Living Outside the Stacks, and me. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday one of us selects an inspiration image and we each post the image on our blogs. The following Monday we share our art-inspired outfits. This Weeks Inspirational Work

This was my last pick for the year 2021 and I just felt like I needed a calm and gorgeous snow scene. Canadian artist, Tom Thomson, painted many beautiful paintings in his short life and I think Snow Shadows has to be one of my favorites.

I do list these in the order that I received them.

Carmen of Fashion With Compassion

I think this is Carmen’s first contribution to Style Imitating Art. Back when I did my First Friday Slow Fashion Walk, she was a regular to link-up her slow fashion styles. Carmen features a lot of pieces from Northern Reflections, a Canadian company with fashion ethics. When I saw her latest post, I reached out to her because I was featuring Tom Thomson. She immediately sent me this lovely sweater featuring snow, Birch trees, and birds, which fits the theme perfectly.

Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge

Shelbee, as always, has come up with a wonderful interpretation. It actually snowed in upper New York, the day I published my painting and she had an amazing setting to carry this look off. Using green velvet against black and adding off white accessories, she nailed it.

Rene of Rene’s Odds and Sods

The trees in the painting reminded Reni of stripes. She is wearing a blue and white striped blouse with a white (the snow) turtleneck sweater, an orange vest, blue jeans, and beige boots, all the colours of the painting. If you follow Reni, you will soon find that she has an amazing collection of boots!

Sally of A World of Her Own

This is the first time Sally has contributed to one of my art picks! I’m so happy to have you, Sally. She channeled the dark background and vertical stripes with touches of cream and gold. Also, she wore my hair long and wavy to represent the golden trees. It looks like we have three black columns in this challenge today, Shelbbe, Sally, and me. I’m a shoe and bag lady and I love those gold flats that she used to finish out the look.

She built her outfit around a blue striped shirt and patterned sweater vest, to mimic the stripes and the texture of the painting. I love this look and it is something I would so wear (and pretty much have through the years).

Daenel of Living Outside the Stacks

Daenel chose this outfit because I thought the colors matched those in the inspiration piece and because the peplum top is one of my favorite pieces. Again, she has put together something that I love.

And Finally Me

I picked an old tweed jacket that I had which had a lot of the colors that I saw in the painting. Under it, I used a black column. For accessories, I added purple which is in the painting, in a desaturated form. After Sally mentioned how she used her hair to help interpretative the painting, I realized that I did too. I donned TressAllure’s Le Bob in Platinum to represent the snow.
