My Take on This Work

I saw pink and I saw embroidery and that meant that I had to wear my vintage Escada bubblegum pink wool jacket for this one.

I started out with a vintage Escada jacket designed by Margarita Ley. As with all my Escade pieces, I found my jacket on eBay back in the middle 2000s when I was collecting a bit of her work.

After that, I put together a basic black column using American Eagle skinny jeans, black suede boots that I found quite a few years ago at TJ Maxx, a black top found on a clearance rack at Target (I think), and a thrifted black belt.

Finally, I chose my Tom Thomas bag, They make all their bags in Texas and this is the Spiral Bag. It’s artsy but makes a simple statement. The Thomas family was showing their bags at the Plaza Art Fair a few years ago and I fell in love. The Spiral’s only problem is that it only has one very small pocket.

There is a red spiral bag on sale on eBay for $69 + shipping. This is quite a deal.

My necklace is a second-hand Stella and Dot that I found on eBay. I went through a Stella and Dot phase right after I retired and collected a few pieces from eBay.

So that’s about it. This is, as many times with me, a pretty minimalist color-blocked style.

The label I look for when I’m scouting Vintage Escada. Margaretha Ley passed away in 1992. Her pieces have to be at least thirty years old. I don’t know if this jacket was even worn because I had to snip the pockets open.

I usually wear this jacket in October and just wore it to the ballet last month. As I mentioned at the beginning, the fashion fabric is 100% wool and I can’t find any mention of what the lining is made of, but it’s not wool. As someone who has dyed quite a few different fibers, I know how hard it is to get an exact shade of color on two different fiber contents. I am amazed that they are so identical in their pink shade.

That’s it up for me.
